Tour Itinerary

Day 1 Sanur

Get ready for an island adventure as we begin our 8 Day Discover Lombok journey in Sanur.   Enjoy a day to arrive at leisure, as your adventure begins with a welcome meeting this evening. If you arrive early today, enjoy a day at leisure to explore Sanur, just make sure you are back in time for the important group meeting this evening.   After the meeting, you may wish to gather a few of your new travel mates and head out to the Sanur Night Market, which is said to be one of best Balinese Night Markets.

Day 2 Sanur to Tetebatu

This morning we head to the port of Padang Bai, and jump on a ferry that takes us from Bali to Lombok. The trip over to Lombok itself is a great journey, as we travel on a huge multi-level boat, often brimming with food hawkers offering interesting snacks, it is a great way to mingle with the local passengers on board. Although this journey is long, the ferry ride and the arrival into Lembar port can be quite an eye-opener, as both the scenery and culture of Lombok are very different to that of Bali. We then jump on a bus and head to the hill retreat of Tetebatu, which is situated in the centre of Lombok, at the southern base of Mt Rinjani, and boasts spectacular views.

Day 3 Tetebatu to Masbagik

Today we pull on our hiking boots and enjoy a guided walk through rice fields, witnessing how the farmers of this region have tended the land for centuries, still using traditional water buffalo ploughs. We then climb a little higher and pass through clove and coffee plantations before visiting the local village of Pringgasela, where we learn traditional weaving and enjoy a delicious Sasak feast. After returning to the hotel, we head to Masbagik village, which is noted for its pottery. Here we enjoy some time to explore the village, learn the process of pottery making, and maybe even getting our hands dirty as we give pottery a go for ourself. We give our hands a clean, then continue through the village and see the other products Masbagik is renowned for, such as tofu and soya bean.

Day 4 Masbagik to Senaru

Today we enjoy travelling around the spiritual centre and sleeping giant of the island, Mt Rinjani. Although we spend most of the day on the road, we enjoy travelling  at a slower pace, enjoying many stops along the way as we stop to visit a market and some local villages famous for their crafts, including bamboo weaving, finally arriving at our destination, Senaru in the afternoon. After a day of travelling, we enjoy spending the night at Senaru, a small, rustic village nestled between the base of Mt Rinjani and the edge of the jungle.

Day 5 Senaru to Gili Islands

Today we head to the west coast of Lombok where we visit the spectacular Singang Gila waterfall.  From here we can see the Gili Islands (Tiga Gili) are an archipelago of three small islands, Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno and Gili Air, and we hop on a small boat and head over to Gili Air. Here we enjoy the breezy atmosphere as we discover the stunning white beaches that rival those of the neighbouring islands.  On arrival we enjoy a 15-minute walk from the port to our hotel (Our bags can be transported to the hotel) and enjoy a real island atmosphere as we get in touch with nature, as our hotel boasts private outdoor bathrooms (with a lockable external doors).

Day 6 Gili Islands

Today we hit the water, as we snorkel and explore the crystal waters of Gili Air, which teems with marine life. We head out on a motorised wooden boat around the Gili Islands, swimming out straight off the boat to discover colourful scenes of tropical fish and majestic sea turtles as we head to different locations around the islands. After an adventurous day in the water we fuel up on a delicious dinner of local seafood. Notes: This activity is subject to local weather conditions and may be cancelled due to rough seas.

Day 7 Gili Islands to Senggigi

After a short boat trip back to Lombok this morning we head to our guesthouse in Senggigi. Ideally positioned to take in the glorious sunsets over nearby Bali, this renowned beach resort is the ideal place to relax and unwind. We enjoy an afternoon at leisure to rest and relax or visit the nearby Pura Batu Bolong, an important local Hindu temple and also a lovely spot to watch the sun go down.
